How do I get started?

Q. Why is your nutrition-counseling program different from most doctors, commercial weight loss programs or other nutritionists?

We do not sell or promote products or medications. We specialize in teaching patients how to incorporate specific functional foods for disease prevention and how to properly manage blood sugars, while teaching them a little of the science behind healthy nutrition.

We help your patients understand the digestion and absorption time of specific foods they consume at home or in restaurants. They will learn how to combine specific foods and snacks to minimize appetite, decrease fat synthesis, increase metabolism, boost energy, and lose body fat. Sports nutrition and weight gain patients learn how to eat healthy foods and gain lean muscle weight.

We are experienced college-educated nutritionists with hospital experience and advanced degrees. We have many years of nutritional counseling experience in our own clinics and have trained over 700 physician offices nationwide for 20 years.

It takes approximately 3-5 minutes to make up a custom meal plan and perform the metabolic assessment.

Q.What if my patients have medical needs like cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol or blood pressure, irritable bowel syndrome IBS (IBS), digestion problems, chronic fatigue, menopause, pregnancy, sports nutrition, or depression?

Again, each nutritional program is individualized for the specific medical & nutritional needs of each individual.

We provide you with the nutritional protocols for over 30 Clinical Concerns ranging from migraines to Polycystic Ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

Q. Where was the research performed ?

The research and validation was performed at the University of Southern California and the National Institute of Health (NIH) convened a consensus panel of experts to confirm scientific validity and accuracy and usefulness in a clinical setting. (Please review Validation & Research- How It Works for References).

Q. How long does it take to train a doctor’s office?

The average doctor’s office can be trained in 2-3 hours of initial training and then 1-2 hours of follow-up training over the course of 1-2 weeks. You can be up and running in a few week’s time. Our materials, software manual and videos have been used by many offices over the years and are easy, for patients and staff to understand and to follow. We also offer annual webinar training for staff and for software upgrades.

Q. Will Private Insurances, Medicare & PPO plans cover nutrition counseling and wellness visits?

Yes, Medicare, Private Insurances. PPO’s and Health Care Plans may cover preventative counseling, wellness visits, metabolic testing and nutritional counseling. Medical doctors and Osteopathic Doctors (DO’s) may receive $300-$1,200 per patient annually from Medicare and Insurances; Chiropractors may receive $200- $700 per patient depending upon the insurance carrier and where they practice. In our practices and with our physicians we recommend direct billing to the patient and then providing a super- bill that the patient can submit it to their insurance carrier for reimbursement. Patients then have a higher regard for the nutritional program and also better appreciation for the reimbursement they receive. We provide more detailed information during a webinar with one of our nutritionists.

Q. How many nutritional counseling sessions does it take to see results and understand the program?

A typical client should immediately feel better in their first week. The complete program usually consists of 3 to 8 - nutritional sessions (we offer up to 12 sessions) we to teach your patients how to eat for the rest of their lives. Typically patients come in weekly or bi- monthly for individual or group consultations.

Our program is viewed as an uplifting experience. We focus on what and why to eat instead of focusing on what not to eat. We will change the way you and your patients view & understand food forever.

Over 20 years many doctors have combined our Lifestyle Nutrition Counseling Program® with other means of weight loss, medications and exercise programs. When you provide us with the details of what your goals are we can review how our software / nutritional program can incorporate your clinical needs and complement each other.

Q. My patients are hungry, have cravings, many have fatigue, or are working out and not seeing results - will nutritional counseling help these patients too?

By concentrating on the digestion and absorption time of foods, appetite, cravings, fat synthesis, irritability, and fatigue usually decrease. Patients report more energy, muscle gain, an overall sense of well-being. If they are already exercising, they will have better workouts, and if they are not yet exercising this may be the step to get them started. By understanding the correct balance of protein, carbohydrate, fat and fiber they also will be at lower risks for chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease while losing body fat.
